“Thudarum” (released April 25, 2025) is a Malayalam drama that begins as a heartwarming family story but gradually transforms into an intense thriller. The film centers on Shanmugham, affectionately known as “Benz” (Mohanlal), a humble taxi driver in the serene hill town of Ranni. The tranquility of their lives is shattered when Benz’s college-going son, Pavi, gets involved in an accident with the Ambassador. The car ends up at a mechanic’s workshop, where it is subsequently seized by the police after marijuana is found in it. Benz’s desperate attempts to retrieve his beloved car from the hands of the arrogant SI Benny (Binu Pappu) and the seemingly composed CI George Mathan (Prakash Varma) lead him into a web of deceit far more sinister than a simple drug case.

What Benz initially believes is a fight for his livelihood soon unravels into a terrifying personal nightmare. He unknowingly helps the corrupt officers dispose of a body, only to discover that the deceased is his own son, Pavi, who was murdered in police custody by George for having a relationship with George’s daughter. Devastated, Benz, a man pushed to his limits, transforms into a relentless force seeking vengeance. The film then becomes a gripping cat-and-mouse game as Benz systematically confronts those responsible for his son’s death, ultimately serving his own brand of justice in a powerful and emotional climax.
