The case, initially a low priority for the police, takes on greater significance as clues emerge, including a pregnancy test found in Ruby’s belongings and a connection to Cecilie’s own family through her husband, Mike (Simon Sears), who has a past sexual assault conviction and a link to a luxury hotel Ruby visited.
The series weaves a complex web of secrets involving not only the adults but also the teenage children in the neighborhood, who are involved in disturbing online activities. As the investigation progresses, long-hidden truths about the seemingly upstanding families begin to surface, forcing Cecilie to confront her own biases and the unsettling reality of the world she thought she knew, ultimately leading to a tragic discovery and the exposure of a shocking cover-up involving the privileged families and their attempts to protect their own.
